I just found out that our dear garden friend Val known to many as grungy passed away. I have only known Val for a short time through the Home Grown Goodness forum. Through that time I learned about more new to me tomato varieties and Val's love of gardening and her wonderful outlook on life. She was a good and decent soul and will be missed by her many gardening friends. Thank you Val for all that you shared with us. here is a link to Dan's post on HGG alanbishop.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=banter&thread=3778&page=12#41580Kevin

Ciao all-
Her diagnosis, hospital stay, and now her passing have hit me pretty hard. For any of you who would like to send a card to Dan and don't have their address, PM me.
She can tend God's garden now.

The seeds Dan sent me will have a special spot in the garden when the plants are ready and the weather is good. I will look at them growing there and think of Val knowing the love her and Dan put into producing them.

Kevin and Julianna,
You said it all,
Val and Dan have been very special people for many of us, and they have done such a beautiful job finding, growing, and saving seeds for so many tomato varieties, and, most importantly, they have been sharing these seeds with so many of us.
I have been growing many tomatoes I got from Dan and Val, and I am growing many more this year. Val will always be on my mind when I am in the garden or going through my seed collection or simply thinking about tomatoes.
I was reading Dan's post at the other forum and could not stop crying...

As you've all said, we've lost a dear friend. As I was out for my walks today, I had plenty of time to think of Val. I certainly will think of her often this year with my hours in the garden.
Condolences to Dan.
It'll be a while until I get through all the tomato seeds they sent me...

No doubt about it, Val was a special lady, and was my first trade buddy ever We`ll all miss her.
