So we are not going up north this week... so I will not be making all this bread nag dab it.. I will try to make some tho this week... TY E1

Wendy, I turn on the oven early because heat rises up the back of the stove. I put the bread bowl on the top of the stove. I give the bowl a half turn halfway through the rising time.

I have seen several recipes for Irish Soda Bread...none of them called for rising.

Soda bread uses no yeast. I saw no yeast in the posted recipe, nor any of the others I have seen. What was posted is actually "American", not "Irish". The Irish do not use currants/raisins... theirs is a simple, everyday bread to be served with supper.

Well I didn't go up north and so I didn't make bread .. I am going to make that bread that takes 12 hrs to rise today well it will rise tonight and I will make it today

My Betty Crocker's Cookbook has a good recipe for making no-knead Casserole Bread in a 2-qt. casserole. I modified it to mix and match onions, garlic, shredded Swiss cheese and a topping of parmesan and black pepper. I substitute 1/2 whole wheat for the unbleached flour. With modern quick rising yeast, it's a quick process. I learned to knead bread from Bread Winners by Mel London. Lots of recipes to customize. I might have to look in my Betty Crocker book ..hmmmm

I have slowed down on the bread making ... kinda hrad to do with a broken wrist ... but will be back into it soon
