I posted on another thread that I can't really think of a yellow tomato that I am in love with. I like the look, but rarely do I like the taste. In fact I bought a gassed supermarket yellow yesterday because I couldn't resist it. It was tasteless and had a weird texture. Every heirloom yellow I have tried was just OK, and never great.
Do you have a yellow that you like? I'm talking something big enough to slice and not an orange, or sort of yellow, but a full size yellow tomato that you think is worth a spot in the garden.

I think I still have seed here somewhere for a "Large Yellow Heirloom" (the only name it had) that can be very good if you have a HOT summer. Otherwise just reasonably good. If I don't have seed for it, Darth does now.

I really like Kentucky Heirloom Viva (aka Yellow-White) and Powers Heirloom for tasty yellow tomatoes.

Yellow Brandywine is tremendous but may not be your idea of yellow(which is ridiculous). In that case, toms yellow wonder which is more of a lemon yellow color is very good but can be stingy with production. Manyel is also a decent yellow.

I second Tom's Yellow Wonder and Yellow Brandywine. Both good yellow tomatoes. Maybe not too big on production, but I usually get a good crop of TYW. YB is LATE, but has a decent crop for something with Brandywine in it's name.

Flavor wise, production wise and most importantly - earliness... Hi, Nolika. Both of these are sweet and have a real nice tomato flavor. They tasted much better for me than Aunt Gertie's Gold and Lillian's Yellow Heirloom that were bland in my garden. I expect they have good production-it's hard to tell in my front yard where my garden doesn't get enough sun. As far as earliness-I poked around the intertubes today. Kentucky Heirloom Viva-78 days and Powers Heirloom-80 to 85 days. I think I'll revisit these two this year.

anyone tried aunt gertie's gold? the description in the catalog is glowing, (tomato growers supply) claims the best flavored tomato of any color. Even though catalog descriptions seem to be biased in favor of everything. I'm gonna try it. (along with a bunch of others)
have to keep in mind that we can create flavor or destroy it just by fertility management or mismanagement. The genetics of the plant just gives us the starting point. And supermarket produce is almost always a product of serious mismanagement with toxic rescue chemistry keeping the stuff halfway marketable. Nearly inedible flavor being the most obvious symptom of problems.

anyone tried aunt gertie's gold? Yes. Flavor is excellent but can be very stingy on production and is late. PL plant can get huge too. Fruit size for me has been in the 12-18oz range. AKA Yellow Brandywine.

Golden King of Siberia is a very large yellow with excellent flavor. I pulled 22 1lb+ fruit off of it last year, and it was the first to ripen in my garden.

Great info everyone.
Anything with Brandywine in the name seems to hate me.
I was going to ask about Golden King of Siberia. That was one I was going to try but never got around to it.
I have noticed that most of them are sort of slimey and I really hate that. Perhaps a heart might be different?

I think Azoychka has a good flavor for a yellow tomato. Sure it doesn't taste like the best red tomato but has it's own character. Some people seem to like the difference a yellow tomato has to offer, and some people don't.
