All you folks that have G.Charlie, this is what you can expect, mine were twice this size and I gotta tell you, this is one fine eating tomato!! Is it just me, or should Spud have picked the one on the left perhaps the week before?

Spud and I had a lengthly discussion today on leaf forms of the PL, PLs are not just judged by the leaf edge...there is alot more to it. Hopefully I can get him to post what he shared with me.

I sowed a bunch of pepper plants and had half a tray left. So I pulled out some Grandpa Willie & Grandpa Charlie seeds. Sowed them on 4-7. Today is 4-10 and I see 8 of 10 Grandpa Charlie seeds up and 0 of 7 Grandpa Willie seeds. So Grandpa Charlie wins again.
Nice pic Darth. Ask Spud how that mater on the right tasted please.
Edited to add that 10 of 10 Grandpa Charlie seeds sprouted. 100% germination--Yes!

Spud and I had a lengthly discussion today on leaf forms of the PL, PLs are not just judged by the leaf edge...there is alot more to it. I've heard his opinion before and I do not agree with some of the premises. I'm not trying to be argumentative, just trying to engage in discussion. As I understand it, the two general identifying characteristics of PL foliage are smooth leaf margins, which the other pic you posted in another thread clearly does not have, and the absence of compound leaflets which I cannot determine without a picture of an entire branch from the vine.

Well, I wish I had more info on the leaf forms but I personally don't. But I also think it would be foolish with the amount of variation, to pigeon hole all the various and obviously non-regular leaf forms into one category.

Like anything else, it's never only black or white.

The Grandpas are doing well for me right now.... Willie has a slight 4 week edge on Charlie, but I did this for reason... This is funny.... After talking to Dean and Rev this week, and they told me they grew both Grandpas in the ArticShip over the winter... How they would grow along side each other- One would be bigger than the other... Then, the next week the other would out grow it...etc.. Spud gave mention...."It was like the 2 competing" back in the day"....lol These plants are some of the best looking, and massive growers, that I have ever done- I put them up there with Big Cheef, and Spudakee for growth speed! My market buddys are gona be pleased, They will never purchace a Better Boy, ever again!

Then why are there only two categories? PL and RL? Seems black and white to me.

Regardless, if Spud says they are PL, and I have no reason not to beleive him or until someone can come up with proof they are not, I will continue posting his pics as PL. In his section. You may also want to look at the hearts at Tatiannas saying that they are PL, not a smooth leaf anywhere in sight, I am sure with as many views as they get, someone would have challenged that claim by now.
