This weeks pic was discovered by our own Jeff Casey and Tatiana from Tatiana's Tomato Base. It is a very large Dark tomato as far as the "Blacks" go. 16-20 ounce. Hopefully Jeff will chime in and give more insight. This is my first year for this one, I have alot of first time darks this year. The story goes that Jeff recieved seeds from Michael Gunn and sent some to Tania also and they were going to call it Purple Doughnut..but decided on the currant name. t.tatianastomatobase.com:88/wiki/File:1884_Purple.jpg

Worth growing indeed! It was good producer last year, seeds were from Tania... Very nice balance of flavor, almost creamy texture. Not a long keeper by any means, but that's never an issue with us, we eat them!. We had very dry and very hot summer last year, so possibly due to the weather, many fruits were somewhat pointy. My range was mostly 12-16oz: Regards, D

Link's not working Darth.
Anyways, how did Jeff and Tatiana get purple fruit from a pink variety? It just says that they received the regular 1884 seed from Mr. Gunn and grew a purple from that?

Thanks grunt. I have her site bookmarked so I went that way. For some reason it would not copy the whole link, just like Darth's.
