greens were direct sown ahead of today's rain where garlic came out. my soil is too sandy to grow good greens, N and moisture retention are not so good. So I compensated by tilling in 8- 2 - 4 organic lawn food (chicken based i think) before sowing, as an experiment. beds are 24 x 4'. this is the best time of year to plant greens here in CT, as they mature and are available for harvest over an extended period as the cold weather settles in. (with some protection as needed)
bed 1 beets: merlin, detroit, lutz green leaf
bed 2 lettuces: dancine, tango; chicories: natacha, bianca riccia, herbs: dill, cilantro, chervil
tomorrow I will plant some daikon radishes, kohlrabi, arugula, kale, and mustards.
