I ended up with one Purple Russian plant. The fruits were early, large and plentiful but every one was split and oozy and useless. I never personally tasted them. The good points are very good but that bad point outweighs it. Why doesn't someone figure out what could be crossed to give it less splits?

I grew them a few years ago. The plants were loaded, the fruit was huge, but no one seemed to care for them. I thought they were ok, but nothing special. I don't remember that much splitting, just a lot of tomatoes to get rid of. JMO, Tom

Cherokee Purple is superior IMO.

they yielded well and taste ok but not thrilling to me. similar to tom's experience but medium, not huge.
