I just had a total hip replacement and can't negotiate the rear stairs to be able to get to the garden, not that I can do any work there. I have 2 plants that are barely surviving, but this rain should help.

Today marks 4 weeks since the surgery. According to the surgeon, I can drive if I feel up to it. I don't. I'll see how I feel in another week. The new physical therapy left me hurting.

I can now negotiate the back steps to reach the garden. Not a lot left. Start over next year.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your hip Garf and that recovery is slow. I hope all will improve soon for you. I'll be dropping seed this weekend, a year after missing out on gardening due to health issues. I'm really looking forward to it.
Kind regards, Hoosier

I'm getting stronger. I can drive now. I started a few seeds from supermarket tomatoes. We'll see how that goes.

I have 2 of the sprouts in my 18 gallon tub. We'll see how this works out.

Those are coming along Garf. How are you feeling? We've just had horrendous weather lately up here with mudslides and flooding. Still, the garden isn't a complete waste and we should have plenty of tomatoes at some point this year. I hope you're getting better by the day!
Kind regards, Kevin

It's taking forever to regain my strength. I still have a little pain. Getting slightly better every day.

My wife just tasted the first tomato to ripen. She loved it. At least 16 more to go and hopefully more to come.

I have picked 2 more tomatoes that blushed. I have the start of both disease and insect damage. I may need to start treatment soon. Plants #3 and 4 have started blooming and have one tomato each on them.

Plants 3 & 4 are loaded with blooms and are starting several tomatoes. I only hope the insects don't find them.

The insects and diseases have arrived. I have black beetles. I hope someone can ID them.

With heavy rains, half the remaining tomatoes have split. #2 plant has died. A few remain intact.
