Did that vine have purple leaves? Those tubers are not really meant for eating. lol The SP Vine has been bred to be an ornamental, not a food crop. It's not even grown for its flowers, just the foliage.

All I'd heard about the ornamental was that was wasn't edible as in tasty. I'd heard that they didn't produce tubers big enough to be useful. Don't really racall paying attention. They seem to be strictly annuals here, but with tubers like those, sure seems a little straw mulch or any mildish microclimate would allow some tubers to survive and regrow vines the next year. I've sure seen some pretty plantings where the green and purple types were grown together, especially with some loudly contrasting annuals like orange marigolds and other things. Pepp.....who is hatching and evil plan to breed an invasive sweetpotato and release it in landarc's "garden." ;D
