Spud wants them to go I-69 to Indy, I-70W to St. Louis, I-44 thru Oklahoma to I-40W. Shortest route.
I was suggesting now since they are I-69 south of I-80 to continue to Indy, take I-70 west to Effingham Illinios, get on I-57 south thru Cairo to I-55 at Sikeston, then I-55 south to West Memphis and get on I-40 there simply to avoid weather and road conditions thru Missouri and northern Oklahoma.
First things first though, the gotta get outta northern Indiana! And at least they finally got out of frickin' Michigan ...

Where in NM are they headed?? I'm just thinking that all these little secondary scenic routes might be worse if they are going through bad weather. Lack of snow removal equipment, drivers not used to ice or snow...mountains.. I44 is a truck route and definitely the fastest way to go. But then again, I've been in OK in an ice storm and the roads weren't a pretty sight

Yes but Carolyn, having an RV means you don't have to pay for a motel/hotel room every night on the road. And they can cook their own meals instead of having to eat in restaurants as well. Kinda evens itself out I suppose. It does even out, for sure. Are they good cooks? I'll bet there might be some McDonald and Wendy's or Subway or whatever is out that way for fast pickup meals as well. Carolyn

Bluelace, no Interstate is "a little secondary scenic route." The routes I suggested are major Interstate, NAFTA truck routes.

So I'm guessing they were spooning to keep warm last night without propane?

They're on I-70 west of Indianapolis, in a Bob Evans parking lot. Their phone is cutting in and out, so I don't know the exit number yet.

I guess there must be a Bob Evans somewhere between Indy and Terre Haute cuz they're at about mile marker 60 and that's still about 50 miles east of Terre Haute. Exits 11 and 7 are Terre Haute exits, which means when they get to Exit 7 (U.S. 41), they only have 7 miles to go to Illinois border. But still they're making good time. Cool beans. Darth says it's colder than a well diggers arse here in Indiana, and I agree. It's 13*F down here and we're over 100 miles south of Terre Haute. He said it was about zero last night in northern Indiana. Anyway, they're taking Blane's and my routing: I-70 to Effingham, IL; I-57 south to Sikeston, MO; I-55 south to West Memphis, AR; I-40 west through Little Rock and beyond to NM. I'll call them back this afternoon when I think they're close to Cairo, IL. Right now they're about 100 miles east of Effingham, more or less. If anyone calls them while they are still in Indiana, here are the exits from I-70. Ask them what mile marker they're at and you'll be able to see where they are: www.milebymile.com/main/United_States/Indiana/Interstate_70/United_States_Indiana_road_map_travel_guides.htmlpv

Okay, they're at about mile marker 140 in Clark County, Illinois, which puts them about 60 miles shy of Effingham which should be about exit 100 or so.
They're making pretty good time, I guess, but Rev saw some sort of fancy steakhouse in Terre Haute and had to stop and scarf down a gi-normous Porterhouse or something.
Lots of complaints about how cold it is, and them thinkin' they're already in the deep south and can't figure out why it's colder here than it was when they left Canuckistan. I got news for them, those prairies of Illinois can get pretty freakin' cold at night in December. So, they better keep scootin' along and try to make Sikeston by like 8:30 or 9:00 CST. It's 4:20 now.

Darth called about an hour and a half ago while I was parked out front of Kids R Us. They were somewhere between Effingham and Mt. Vernon, Illinois, at a Dollar General pickin' up some sandwich makin's. Said Rev was revved up and ready to drive a ways farther tonight. I told them they were about 4 hours north of Sikeston at the rate they're drivin' ...
