Hey Darth. I like this place. I wish I had some more pics. My season started the end of June/ first of July. I haven't had more than one or two pathetic little tomatoes a week in quite a while. I'm hoping for one last flush in September. Until then, I just look at you northern growers and dream.

I bought this plant and it was labeled Chocolate Stripes. I usually grow my own plants from seed but thought I would give this one a try. The plant was a monster, but the production is the worst ever for any I've ever grown. I got one tomato. Yep, one. It weighed 15 oz and was quite pretty. What do you think? Is this really Chocolate Stripes?

That is just awesome work you are doing. You should be very proud. The words patience and dedication come to mind when I see something like this. There seems to be a lot of work with crossing Sungold. Has anyone grown a bunch of F2 Sungold and instead of looking for physical characteristics, done a taste comparison and used that seedling as breeding stock? An ugly red could be the keeper of the Holy Grail of taste in Sungold's genes and is being overlooked. Also, what company holds the rights to Sungold? I would think that it would be important to know what market this tomato was bred for to help select which seedling would be best suited for bringing up in another color, shape, or size.
I have a bunch of unrelated questions but I won't hijack this post. I'll try to put something together in another post soon. Thanks for the pics. Well done.

I say start where the plants start. The soil. I wrote a reply but it was so lengthy that I thought maybe I should put it in a separate post. So I did.

Sounds like a Potassium deficiency which really can stress the water retention properties too. I would hit it with a water soluble fertilizer, but I would also think about getting a good soil test done.
