Kellogg's Breakfast or KBX (undecided between the two)...Camochef, IMO go with KBX. No CRUD as seedlings and PL here does better than RL disease-wise otherwise it's the same tomato and the same number of them. I lost plenty of KB to CRUD over the years but never a KBX..../quote] I've grown Kellogg's Breakfast for a few years now and never had any kind of crud problem . Last year was the first year I grew KBX. Kellogg's Breakfast did better than KBX in one garden, and they were the exact opposite in the second garden. So, I appreciate your recommendation, but remain unsure at this time, I had a lot of trouble last year getting KBX to germinate, and I had seed from three different sources. I think it was a post office problem. Thanks again! Camo

Hey Mark, glad to see you made it! I was on the verge of logging into idig to pm you! Heh, thank, Pep! OK, so, Early Girls can / freeze very well. They produce a ton and actually are early and are the last to give me ripe fruit in the fall. For me they're nearly disease and pest free. So there....

yeah, I grew it last year just to see if landarc had any credibility...I'd agree pretty much with mark. The taste was pretty good. Must do well in most areas, as it seems to be the most popular consumer mater plant.

The reason I like Early Girl is that the drawbacks many people perceive, such as a thicker skin and solid flesh, also gives it certain benefits. One of the best tomato dishes I have had is a slow roasted tomato dish that required a thicker skin. It also can perform well when other tomatoes are faltering.
