Hi,
I get the point of what you're posting and why you're posting it, but I'm missing something here with this -
It seems like a non-sequitur - are you referring to something that happened somewhere else other than on TTG - because I think the discourse has been civil here - otherwise, I'm at a loss to understand the entirerty of the post if I'm not sure what you're referring to. Could you please explain this?
FWIW, people are people - meaning mean-spiritedness occurs everywhere - you can let it drag you down or let it pass you by.

Oh I found it never-mind - tomato drama. OK, here's a quote re: my idea regarding history and tomato "mythology" [blockquote]"Oral History" is a maddeningly imprecise term: it is used to refer to formal, rehearsed accounts of the past presented by culturally sanctioned tradition-bearers; to informal conversations about "the old days" among family members, neighbors, or coworkers; to printed compilations of stories told about past times and present experiences; and to recorded interviews with individuals deemed to have an important story to tell.[/blockquote] historymatters.gmu.edu/mse/oral/what.htmlThe stories we tell about food etc. is more than often not by word of mouth. Imprecise at best, and often transmuted. It's different IMHO, than being angry at a let's say "written in stone" recounting of heirloom history that is being done. Yes, big companies exploit the heirloom angle (I got an e-mail from a big plug grower who said "discover heirlooms, discover profit" *delete*) - but most people are just ignorantly (not maliciously) recounting what they heard. It's a loaded thread, so I'll stop here - lots of concurrent themes that need to be winnowed out. Everybody just take a deep breath - we're talking tomatoes here folks - not world peace or the cure for cancer.

Hay, (to mulch them maters) we are talking cancer cure! indirectly. I've heard of lot of people who've wiped out their cancer by just eating nothing but raw stuff from the garden. usually going heavy on carrots but every thing else thrown in as well including maters. Seems there's something about the enzymes of raw veggies that cancer can't live with.
