I got Garyo Sena seed from Gleckler in 2010. I got a RL pink out of it. Perhaps his seed got cross pollinated somewhare along the line.

With a change of leaf type to RL and at the same time a new colour this sounds a lot like unintentional/bee cross pollination. Maybe Darth grows enough to see a full segregation and tell us more.

Several years ago (2006 or 2007), I selected a regular leafed seedling from a grow out of Gary O'Sena and got the green tomato that I named O'Sena Green. In 2008, I took the tomato to SPLATT tasting in South Carolina, and it received good reviews taste wise, and Rodger, the host of SPLATT, posted some favorable comments about O'Sena Green, and he also collected seeds. I don't know that anyone else at the tasting collected seeds. One person from Canada read the reviews posted online and requested that I send her some seeds, which I did. There is some doubt in my mind whether O'Sena Green is a result of a cross of Gary O'Sena or a seed mix-up, for it has been stable every year since I selected it, so I haven't listed the variety with SSE. I don't know how Glecklers got the seeds unless the lady from Canada or Rodger sent them, for I didn't. I hope this clears up some of the mystery about this variety.

Always nice for a person who knows the back story to come forward and give it to us. Thanks, Winterfly. Sounds like stray pollen or stray seed to me. Where'd you get your Gary'O seed for that particular grow-out?

Thanks winterfly. To me it sounds like stray seed if the, as you say, it has been stable every year since you found it. In other words it is probably yet another re-named variety.

Perhaps someone who bought seeds from Gleckler (like Darth or myself) will comment when the fruit ripen.

I got the seed for the Gary O'Sena grow out that produced O'Sena Green from an SSE member. Don't recall who. The only reason I kept O'Sena Green was because it tasted great. In retrospect, I should have kept the variety for myself, but the SPLATT tasting was my first and I wanted to take my best tasting tomatoes.

Winterfly, I don't see much wrong done here yet.
If you got the seed via SSE Yearbook, then you got 20 - 30 seeds, right? Or how many seeds came in the original pack?
How many plants were regular leaf? How many came up potato leaf? How many did you plant out? How many seeds you got left from the original pack?
I'm not ready to say it's stray seed instead of stray pollen until you say you only got one regular leaf, green when ripe, and the others were potato leaf, even if there were some green when ripe and others gf-"purple."

I had only the one regular leaf and the rest were PL, and the RL was way more vigorous than the PL ones, like maybe it was a fresher seed. That threw up a flag for me. If the stray seed came from my seeds, the only two green varieties I grew that year was Green Velvet and Cherokee Green. I tried to compare fruit and leaf shapes with the other two greens, but it was inconclusive. Everything looked the same. If the stray seed came from the SSE member, then it could be anything.

Thank you for this update! I ordered seeds from Gleckler, and as of right now I have 4 nice looking RL plants coming along that are growing very fast. I didnt notice any PLs as I chose to keep just 4 I think I shared some with Darth...hopefully we will compare the growth of these this season.

I got it from Gleckler today, and may not sow it this year, but I had to go to Tatiana's anyway, because I also got Black Zebra Cherry and Spudatula, and wanted to see the scope on them.

They are quite healthy Gunnar...I say go for it! Not too late is it?
