There was a waring on the first page of the magazine Hobby Farms about herbicides in composted manure. I did buy a bag of allegedly composted steer manure from Lowes which still smells. some of my replanted wintersown seedlings showed yellowing of the first leaves. They have since recovered and put out new leaves. Meanwhile, the manure had been added to my repotting soil and I did not want to start over. I diluted with coir and with garden soil, which in my yard is quite good. I think I may stop buying manure altogether. I will have to have some kind of bagged starting mix for winter sowing, because the ground is frozen solid here in Dec.
I also have two unopened bags of mushroom compost, so I am alwo waiting for information about the safety of that product. I supposed the shroom compost would be safe, because any impurities would compromise the mushrooms. Silly me.
