Any recommendations for where to get one? I mean a good one. Not the cheap garbage they sell at Lowes that the head comes off a year after buying it!

I bought a good one back in the 80's from a Canadian owned garden centre that guaranteed their tools and their trees. They've long been out of business. Their goods were too good obviously cuz no one had to go back to buy replacements. I hope someone can give you an answer to this JT. Good tools make such a difference in the gardening experience.

JT What about places like Lehman's? It would make sense to me that a place selling high end, hard to find homesteading items would have garden forks.

Go with the steel handled stainless or the ergonomic from Lee Valley. You will have to destroy them to need to buy again. They don't wear out, and I have only ever managed to break one tine in 20 years on one of theirs metal handled ones.

i agree with grunt on the metal handle. i have one with the wooden handle from elsewhere and after 6 years it came all apart on me.

I have 4 variously constructed forks (two are metal handled) so can't quite justify buying the ergonomic fork from them, but I do have the ergonomic digging spade. Replaced the rivet holding the head on two years ago. It's going to outlast me, and I abuse it quite a bit.
