How much room do you have? What are your growing conditions?
I deal with squash vine borers where I live so I plant butternut varieties and one zuchinni variety that is somewhat resistant to the borers- Round de Nice. If you have plenty of room and like butternut I'd go with Long of Naples. One of the first ones I picked- the vine borers got to the plant and the squash wasn't ready. However it weighed in at 25 pounds. Not bad for a butternut. The Long of Naples squash that I have cooked has been very good.

This is just 122 pounds of Long of Naples in the picture. I have picked about 175 pounds already and I have 10 squash still on the vine. I am still looking for someone to buy some of my squash. Perhaps I am asking too much! Perhaps you guys can tell me. Here's my ad. I'm planning on going to the Farmer's Market next week if I can't sell any directly. *sigh* tucson.craigslist.org/grd/2682703196.htmlAttachments:
