My first pepper seeds have germinated: peter, Thai, lemon and 1 bhut jolokia. I should see more tomorrow. It was 7-8 days since planting. Those Peter's are really coming up well. not going to make a joke here.

yummy North Star red dawn kapelo mini apple Doe Hill
Arledge Biker Bili Apache Bermuda Hot
St. Helena Chili Grande Mariachi Peppino Cherry bomb Ariz toothpick Cveta hot Dante de pierro Larjlej Early Cayenne Thai hot ornamental Patuljak (Dwarf) F-2 Demon
Thai Yellow Thai Green
Bonda Ma Jackque Bonnet bell hot Carmine Wild Brazil fatali x f2 Mini Blanc White Bullet
Firefox
Maui Purple Brazilian Rainbow
updates: 2 weeks from sowing, all but St Helena, Thai yellow, and Carmine are up
3 weeks from sowing i got a single carmine plant. I'm hoping it survives since it's described as a chinense with thick flesh.
week 4 update: thai yellow and St. Helena didn't germinate. Bonda Ma Jackque leaves look different more like pubescent than chinense. The chinense are mostly slow, though not all of them. Being very careful not to overwater, since my growing space is too cool. Adding two more to the list Maui Purple and Brazilian Rainbow.

Orange Sun and Super Shepherd started in January. Super Shepherd because of the needs of climate, Orange Sun based on research from a field trial database. I research way too much. There are some hot peppers that are native to this area but we (the family) prefer growing the sweets.

Hey! Anyone here have Trinidad Douglah (Not the same as 7-Pot)? I have seeds from Gold Bullet, Black Pearl and Tepin to trade if you're looking for a few nice hot varieties. I grew Douglah two years ago, but an early freeze did them in! I know this isn't the "Swap" section, but it is related by subject (Right?).

Started the rest of my pepper seeds last week, and most of them have come up already. This year I am foregoing any sweet peppers, only growing hots. Even with everything I grow I usually make weekly runs to the farmers market, so sweet peppers are easy to get and fairly cheap. The sweet peppers just don't grow that well for me. Part of the problem might be that I don't want to water my pepper plants differently, so I water them the same as I have been watering my hot peppers. So this year I am growing: Chocolate Hab Red Hab Suave Grande Jalapeno Jalmundo Serrano Fresno Purple Jalapeno (my favorite) Sunrise/Sunset The Habs and the Suave are mainly for hot sauce, absolutely loved the flavor of the hab/carrot hot sauce I made last year. The rest are for salsa. Fell a little short of my goal of 200 pints last year, but not by much. This year should be better, I didn't have any assistance from my pregnant wife last season in either the garden or the processing

Trying Orange Sun for the first time this year. Really looking forward to them, I've heard such great reports about this variety. My seeds are slow to germinate this year. One of the downfalls of living in a drafty old house. But it's sunny and much warmer today so things are beginning to pop up all over.

Trying the Orange Cal wonder for the first time (I think they are supposed to be a bit earlier than Orange sun). Got them on sale last year in multi-packs from Seeds of Change. If you'd like to try some BLR, I could send you some, or I'll save some for you next year.
