I dunno kids. It doesn't sound that good for the Wagners. If you really do want some of his cool seeds to do grow out with sooner may be better than never.
My check went out in the mail...

I'm very interested in Tom Wagner and especially his potato breeding. You can mostly contact him at his own board ( tatermater.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general ), but he's active at TomatoVille as well.

I'd much rather have mule's or frog's material. I have no interest in anything wagner has. Everything I've tried of his has been terrible.

UMMMMM..... Who is Tom Wagner??? Tater Mater......He's been breeding Tomatos and Potatos for I don't know how many years He brought us the Green Zebra and many more over the past couple decades. Carolyn or maybe some others could give you a better Biography.

Of his tomato varieties I have seed for Green Zebra and Banana Legs. But many of Wild Boar Farms' varieties are based on his work, especially those with gs genes.

For me, it's preferable to go straight to Wild Boar Farms for the gs material, because I can get superior flavor along with the stripes.
Besides, I don't have to stand there with my hat in my hand, my head bowed like a beggar, and choking back my own political philosphy which largely is diametrically opposed to Tom's.

If I could get a russet potato that would set seed. I'd be a happy man. Clonal planting isn't practicle for me,

What do you mean? Is Tom not doing well? Seems Mrs W. job is being outsourced. Seems to me that can't be good for potato research.

Well, I don't like hearing about anyone's job being outsourced. But now it seems even more than ever, it's time for Tom to find a way to make all his research and development pay the bills.

B'gosh b'golly. Thanks tomc, bammer, & gunnar for the publicity and well-wishes. Well Mule and Frog have some fine material don't they? I'm glad to hear they're getting your business. Because my breeding and research work has kept me busy up to now I haven't had the time or to release all that much relative to what I have. So anything you've tried with my name on it is decades old, or came from a friend or associate who might have re-distributed some seeds from a friendly gift or exchange. Either way I respect your tastes and would not impose anything on you that you find terrible. That's true and I've documented where elsewhere, but the more interesting issue is the difference between the "before" and the "after" photos. That's right, you don't have to stand there hat in hand head bowed like a beggar, because that's not the way I treat people. Not only would I treat you with respect and common courtesy, but as a fellow crop breeder I would extend a warm and friendly hand should you ever come by this way. If ever I have come across as taking political matters personally that is not my intent, because I know that deep inside we all want the same sorts of things in life for ourselves and those we hold dear, isn't that right? Our highest goals all tend to be the same sorts of things and sometimes we get bogged down with the details. What do you think? At your service. I apologize that with seed and tuber sales a bit behind schedule, a brief introduction will have to do. I've been breeding potatoes and tomatoes for around 58 years now. A few of my older varieties such as Green Zebra are widely distributed but most of my work has never seen the light of day. This year that will start changing as I grow out some of my lines. Pleased to meet you, DLD; please tell me about yourself.

I held back in pestering Carolyn for (some of) her old stocks of Olena's Ukrainian, and the only thing "waiting" got me was none of her old (most likely long given out) seed.
Now my not scoring isn't any part of her fault. But I'm smart enough to not do that over with Tom Wagner as a TPS making russet look-alike source.
Oh he might NOT have my hopes desire, but waiting isn't going to make that any less likely

Welcome aboard Tom (Tatermater) Looking forward to growing Casadys Folly this year, This past year Green Brandy was a mass producer as was Black Snoq- (Cant spell the rest) But I liked Emilys Circle best. I'll be growing out the BB X GZ F3 backcross this year. I'll have to hook up and get another batch of seeds from you for this season.
