Has anyone tried this PL variety, and can give your thoughts on it? It's from Wild Boar Farms.

I tried it in 2008, and will never grow it again. Bland, bland, bland ... flat flavor.

I wonder how Haley's Purple Comet stack up? I also have Boars Hoof. I haven't tried any of them yet.

I'm also interested in any info on Haley's Purple Comet. I'm thinking of growing it this year so I need some input...

Swamper grew HPC last year and loved them. He favored them over purple haze and black cherry. I told him he needs his head examined. ;D

I agree with Bill, Evans Purple Pear was bland to taste. The interior color was beautiful though, and it yielded well over a long season. The thing that I liked about Halleys P.C. was the flavor late in the season was outstanding when all the others were petering out.
