Do you grow tomatoes for just size, and if you do, what variety?

I grow for taste, but I do like tomatoes you can fill a sandwich with with just one big ole whopping slice!

I like the taste, but when I make a tomato sandwich, it's not to look at the bread! If that slice don't cover the bread it's just not as good. eta: My big varieties are "German" and "Delicious" and a selection I call "Two-pound".

I would have to say size matters, as once the slicers begin to ripen I no longer seek out the cherries. Taste is the most important thing to me, but both size and production are something to consider. My largest tomatoes this past year were:
Limbaugh's Legacy Potato Top
Richardson
Brandywine-Glicks
Indian Stripe
Cowlick's Brandywine
Amazon Chocolate
Rose
Goatbag
Mr Underwoods Pink German Giant
Hege German Pink
German Johnson
Olena Ukrainian
Earl's Faux
Dora
Shannon's South African Mystery Black
JD's Special C-Tex
Lillian Maciejewski's Poland Pink
all of which could cover a sandwich with one slice, and some that needed that slice cut in half! Camo

Largest tomato ive grown was Omars Lebanese. I dont like huge tomatoes. 6-10oz is prefect for me.

I'm with JT on this. I'll go for flavor over size and the big ones tend to be too late for a normal Minnesota summer

Call me greedy glutton but I've always been able to cover the bread with more slices. Yes, that leaves nuttin for the rest of the family

I think size matters, I think large tomatoes taste different from small ones. Not better or worse, just different.

Yes and no. Yes because I grow Porterhouse and Big Zac primarilly to see how big I can get one! No, because I don't prune or use any secrets at all on those plants that others trying for records would and because I grow plenty of all sizes as well. I just like seeing a couple of those 2 and 3 pound giants every year and besides BZ tastes really good too...
