Found my way here through Tatianna's Tomatobase. Zone 7b mater crazy - expanding the "superhobby" every year!
Planting on new ground this year - planning for 4 x 100 foot rows of lovely tomatoes (in addition to much else). This'll be a big change from the raised beds & 30, 15 & 5 gallon containers I have grown 150 plants a year in. Looking forward to it!

Thank you! I have all kinds of things to learn - esp. since The Summer of Tomato Doom (2010) shook my confidence. A number of conditions conspired to make for the perfect storm of tomato ailments - all the ones I have ever seen plus one more! The challenge this year will be trying other support methods. I plan to be growing on black plastic with soaker hoses 4 inches beneath. Two rows for each 6 foot raised hill with 6 feet between plastic covered rows. This is for weed control & water retention. The soil I am growing in is loamy sand which we are enriching with organic cow manure.
The determinants & semi-determinants will be fine with stakes but I am used to growing using 8 foot high CRW cages (I have 150 of them). These will not be as easy to set in the plastic without tearing it up so I am looking for options for the big indeterminants.
My first interests are to grow enough to stock up 100 pints of salsa, 100 quarts of tomato sauce & dried tomatoes min. Then excess I'll consider selling by volume - not weights - though this will be a new venture (still in "super hobby" realm LOL) & I could use input/recs.
I would love to learn how to low key market CSA baskets w/o selling memberships - going rather by a weekly basis/availability.
