I was moving seedling trays around and those were very leggy. Smashed a flat up next to them and snapped their little heads off.

Bummer. So no spudakee this year? You could always contact Darrel and buy a plant from him.

I might just do that. I think I have a few seeds left, but it's getting late to plant.

Just a a tip I've learned and used many times. If you decapitate the tomato plant, you can put the decapitated part into moist starting mix (relatively soon after decapitation - don't wait too long) - it will look droopy for a day or so but then will start growing roots. No worries.

Thanks grrl, but there wasn't really anything to save this time.
...I actually did this twice today.

You poor man. I've done that before. It's so stressful when you hear the poor plants scream Last year, I flipped a flat upside down on the carpet right after planting the seeds and tagging everything. It wouldn't have been such a disaster if they weren't varieties I had only a few of. But, a week later I couldn't even remember what varieties they were and I've lots more seeds that I've never tried and that's just me.

i was going to mention surf4's suggestion too. glad you were able to save some. i do feel for you! last year i spilled a tray of peppers in my open rain barrel....you know, sitting on top, thought there was enough room to get by...but wasn't! had to wait and see when they grew up what they were!

Compared to some of the disasters I have witnessed, this was nothing. I have 3 boys. I could tell you stories that you would swear was fiction. Everything from electrical fires to a recreation of Stone Hinge made from burying my wrenches in the yard. Nothing really bothers me too much these days.
