Alright, I've screwed up. Still have my tomatoes in the greenhouse, almost 26" tall and leggy as hell. Should get the garden tilled this week, assuming the rain holds off and my health hold up. Is it too late for the tomatoes? Should I cut them all back to a foot tall and? The vines are no thicker around that a pencil, if that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Kevin

Not too late kevin. They can be planted as-is just dig a deeper hole and bury more of the stem.

I've had to trench plant virtually everything I planted in-ground this year. I just measured one I haven't planted yet - 32 inches! I could easily have started them a couple of weeks later.
The healthiest plant of all is the one I planted out a month before the last frost date, just for a laugh. I actually planted it on good Friday, which is the traditional time around here for planting potatoes! It is not much more than a foot tall but it is built like a tree.

Thank you to all. I've been stressing about my garden this year. Haven't been as well as I'd hoped and am only know getting the fence up around it. Will try to get it tilled this week and planted next. I really appreciated your words of encouragement.
Cheers, Kevin

I've planted plenty that were leggy and still got a good crop from them. Trench or dig deep, either will work. Tom
