No ripe fruit yet but will be early. Appears to have the fruit size of BC and the ladder type trusses of SG. Fruit color should be red.

Neat! Now this may be a stupid question... But how do you know they will be red?

... except that Cherokee Purple x Sungold F1 has produced both red and orange F1 tomatoes. Frogsleap is familiar with that particular project. I assume the same is possible from Black Cherry x Sungold F1.

Soren also had a mix of orange and red F1 plants from his Micro Tom x F1 Sungold cross, it appears to be a common thing to happen. thetomatogarden.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=breeding&action=display&thread=1192&page=2Is it established that tangerine (t) is the gene responsible for Sungold's colour, or is there a possibility it is a dominant type like Delta (D) or Beta-carotene (B)? tgrc.ucdavis.edu/Images/B%5Eog,hp-1,sp,Del,B,t%5Ev,t,u-LA3771,LA3802,LA2996A,LA0316,LA0351,LA3250-fruit-comp.jpg (Just an idea)

then I would suspect that the flower received two sources of pollen What pollen source onto a Cherokee Purple stigma would cause an orange F1? Just curious.

Well, as I've already spoken to mule about, I am growing two of these F1 plants and getting to different color fruits. One red and one orange. Both are very good. The red has more tartness to it. The orange fruit are slightly larger than SG and the color is slightly different as well, but still definitely orange.
