Hi, I know I read somewhere of planting indeterminate tomatoes 18 inches apart. I have been planting 24" apart with good luck. This year I built a 50 ft long x 38 inch wide lasagna bed for tomatoes this yr., and it is pretty rich bed ., and was thinking it would be ok to plant 18 inches apart. has anyone had sucess with close planting maters? thanks Errol

Hi, Errol.
For my indeterminates, I like to use 24" spacing to give the plants room to grow and for airflow. For my Dwarf Tomato Project, 18" between plants is good.

It really depends on your goals, your soil, your climate, etc. 18" works fine for me. I grow on trellises made with 8 foot stakes and prune indeterminates to two stems, early on, and eventually stop pruning. my rows are also quite close together. one of my goals is to grow the maximum number of plants in a given space for trials and growouts.
