Hello, My name is Logan. I am 15 years old and a sophmore in high school. I live in Southern California in zone 10a or 10b. I run cross country and track for my high school. I have been gardening for about a year and mainly grow heirloom tomatoes. I'm hopefully going to start breeding tomatoes this year.

Hi Lefty. Welcome!
How'd you get started gardening? How'd you develop an interest in plant breeding?

Hi Lefty. Welcome! How'd you get started gardening? How'd you develop an interest in plant breeding? In 7th grade science we planted a bean and sprouted it. Later in the year I put a tomato seed in a cup of dirt and it sprouted. Also I put an apple seed in a cup of dirt and it sprouted. I've gotten the farmers almanac since 2008 and in the 2009 issue there was an article about tomatoes and that directed me to tomatoville. That year my uncle gave me a small greenhouse and some heirloom tomato seed samples. I learned a lot about tomato varieties and breeding on that forum. I decided that I wanted to breed tomatoes and create my own varieties.

I decided that I wanted to breed tomatoes and create my own varieties. Well, you've come to the right place for that! It's good to see a young guy as interested in gardening, let alone tomato breeding. Good luck with your endeavors.

Wow, lefty, that's great! I know the article in the Farmer's Almanac, it's about our friend Dan in BC, right? He'll be proud to hear how that article inspired you! Send me a pm and I'll give you information to contact him, he loves to share seed, and he'd love to hear from you!
