This weeks pick is Elbe, a nice Pl tomato, orange and very good for fresh eating. I only had one plant last year and didnt get pics, Spud sent me a pic and I can not open it. So Spud, if you would please post a pic of Elbe, and share your knowledge of this tomato.

Darth, Elbe is one of my favorite PLs which I have grown for many years. It is an old German variety dating back to 1889 and named after the Elbe River there. Elbe is very similar to Spark's Yellow, another fave PL. It has the typical smooth-edge PL leaves. Here's the links to Tatiania's site for a complete description and pics of Elbe and Sparks Yellow. tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Elbetatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Sparks_YellowYou won't go wrong in growing Elbe as it produces well in all climates and conditions. I have successfully grown it in PA, MI,and NM. Elbe has good production, large size to 20+ounces, and a balanced acid/sweet taste.

Hm, and Elbe is an Orange? Up to 20 ounces on first or second fruit-set? I'll have to try to remember this one.

Tom, anyone who knows me, knows that I call em like I see em, I refuse to call something {yellow} when it sits there and shouts look at me, I am orange. I dont know anyone who is going to take a skin sample to determine the color of a tomato!!! So if it is yellow, it is yellow,orange...orange.

Oh Darth, I'm not doubting your veracity. I'm just saying, I've not seen an orange that big.
