This weeks pick is one I am growing this year Berkley Tie Dye heart. It is described as a redish black fruit with green stripes and yellow skin. I have heard good things about this tomato and I am sure my chefs will love it, if any of you have a pic feel free to post it, or you can go to tatiana's Tomato Base and look it up. The thing about chefs is they like color, and stripes always go well they will pass up bigger tomatoes for the medium sized ones every time.

This was a good tomato. Grew it in 09 for first time. 6-8 oz fruit, Good flavor, avg yield but in a bad season, RL vines, yellow skin. Brad develops some very good tomatoes of the ones I've tried. I didn't care for his black heart. I have tried that one, large barred boar, BTDH and this year I'm growing Berkeley Tie-Dye to compare.

So this would be a paste type compared to the original which would have been a slicer? And the reason why Chef's like racing stripes is because patrons eat faster therefore you can have more seatings per evening?

BTD heart is new to me this year too. I've tried most all of the other WBF tomato varieties and hardly a bad one in the lot.

And the reason why Chef's like racing stripes is because patrons eat faster therefore you can have more seatings per evening? It is not a paste type, it is hard to categorize. It is definitely heart shaped and dense, but, the cross section of the locules is more defined and larger than most hearts I have experience with. The flavor is also close to BTD, but, in a better package.
