Yes, I sent Darth F2 seeds from [(Brandywine x Neves Azorean Red)F2 PL red x Bolseno F1].
I'm only growing two of the F2s here at home, one is regular leaf (RL) and the other is potato leaf (PL). Both currently are about 3 feet tall and have good fruit set with the largest green globes being about silver dollar size at this time.
My hope is to find an assortment of baseball to softball size salad globes and flattened beefsteak slicers with old fashioned flavor, red tomatoes on highly disease resistant potato leaf vines.
Toward that end, besides continuing to select from subsequent generations, I may outcross this year's PL plant to the Big Beef x Eva's Purple Ball F3 (from JayTee's seed) to capture even more disease resistant potential.
Peace, PV

Sounds good guys. Just for the record, the original Big Beef x Eva Purple Ball cross was made by Darrel Jones in AL. I grew two F2 plants which I ordered from him last season. They both produced very similar blemish-free slightly flattened beautiful pink fruit. I am growing two F3 plants this year from the same F2 seed.

What is Bolseno, and what traits does it have?

I sent DarJones some F1 seed from the 3-way cross last year and he grew it in his patch but did not comment very highly with regard to flavor. I will have to say the F1 was not as robust in flavor as either Bolseno, which was a tart slicer/canner, or the Brandywine x NAR F2 parent which was a meaty beefsteak with old fashioned tomato flavor.
Hopefully, Darth will find something worthy in his block of F2s.

What is Bolseno, and what traits does it have? Bolseno F1 is from Johnnys. See below. Its a nice, indet, RL, medium size (6-9oz) , blemish-free slicer. Red fruit. Good production. Good flavor. I crossed it with Lucky Cross last season. www.johnnyseeds.com/p-7118-bolseno-f1.aspx

Maybe crossed to red brandywine (might improve the RBW taste, haha) or Ark Traveller.

TZ, okay, JayTee has shown a perfect example of Bolseno F1. Here is the other parent in the 3-way cross, the Brandywine x Neves Azorean Red F2 PL: And here is the specific tomato that holds the crossed F1 seeds: I picked it at breaker stage to ensure against loss. Here are some photos of 3-way F1 fruit from 2009: You can see from that last photo that Bolseno held a tremendous sway over the genetics in the F1 as the interior of the other parent (BWxNAR F2 PL) was very thick, meaty and contained not much gel. Also note the indented little blossom scar on the 3-way F1. That is from Bolseno, too. Anyway, as said before, I have one PL vine and one RL vine this year for F2s. Darth has many vines and I assume both RL and PL with maybe some intermediate leaf forms as well. The tomatoes themselves could be all over the place regarding pink, red, beefsteak, canner, more like Bolseno, more like Brandywine, or more intensely flavored (this is what I hope) which would reflect the Bolseno and NAR genes. Peace, PV

Got it, but it is more like a 4way cross since Bolseno is an F1, or a 3 1/2 way cross since Brandynar is F2 ;D. Thats going to be a lot of round red-ish things to sort through.
