I just tried my first Grub's, wow a good tomato, but I wouldnt say that it is better than Spears Tennessee Green nor as productive. The fruits are all about a half pound or better, The flavor is slightly tart, and has a good balance. this one is hard to tell if it is ripe because it has a clear skin and doesnt get the tell tale chartreuse color when it is ripe.

From what I could find out GMG is supposed to be an early somewhat compact plant (like CP) and with yellow skin. tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Grub%27s_Mystery_Green Mine turned out to be late season on a tall plant with clear skin, suspiciously similar to Green Giant so I'll not bother saving seeds.

Thats what threw me also, the clear skin, well chalk it up to another seed trade!!!

Yeah, the few times I've grown GMG it had yellow skin. It was great the first year I grew it, but it was unstable when distributed. The next couple years it did poorly for me and I gave up on it.

Grew it once and it was OK. The skin was yellow, the leaves were PL. Taste was good, not out of this world...
One seedling did have RL and I thought I would simply throw it away, but I had spare space and I planted it instead. I turned out to be very productive, but the fruits were smallish beefsteaks and ORANGE RED! The taste was also quite pleasant, on the sweet side. If anyone is interested in this sport, I have many seeds to spare, I will gladly give them out. I also have some nice photos of it...
I will not be stabilizing this line as I do not have the time or the space to do what is necessary...

First year for this one, I was pleased It was just like the description a shorter compact plant (approx 4') PL med - large yellow on the bottom green on top when ripe taste was good but not as good as Malachite Box, but GMG plants outlasted the other greens in the garden.

I received some seeds as a trade last winter. I loved it. Large tomatoes. Unfortunately it got late blight. I will grow one next year too, along with Spears Tennesee Green(new one). I don't know if mine was clear or yellow skin. I don't pay attention to that kind of thing. I did pick them when the tomatoes were yellowish.
