Hi, I'm tsu and new to veggie gardening. I love growing tomatoes (heirlooms) and can't wait to start growing all the 'oddies'. Anywho I was asked to join by Darth (I assume he has the same name on this forum to) and look forward to meeting the rest of you experienced in the way of the tomato. Thanks Tsu

Welcome. Tomatoes can be tough to raise here in WA, depending on where you live. I am west of the Cascades, hence milder winters, and cooler summers then 'the other side'. It CAN be done: start planning soon, as you will need to choose varieties that do well here, and get them started indoors in order to take advantage of our cool/short summer. Be forewarned though: once you take that first tomato into the kitchen (after the ones you ate IN the garden), you will forever afterwards avoid the tomato aisle of the supermarket. At least with our cooler summers, we do not have the severity of pests and diseases that many others have to deal with. If you wake up in the morning and see the sun, bow to her and thank her for helping you.

Hia Tsu! I too, live in Washington State (sadly, ha ha.) I live near Seattle, and last year I did grow some nice tomatoes that ripened in early August/late July!! ;D Things were going well, until late blight came... grrr! Anyways, welcome and enjoy the forums! Tgplp
