Hey all, long time since I visited. I have bought a new house, in a different city and state. I now live in Joplin, Missouri. Not too far from where I lived previously, still in the same zone, just a bit farther south. Talking to some of my new neighbors, the ground is pretty rocky, so they have raised bed gardens. I haven't dug around too much yet, but I will definitely. give it a look before next spring. Deer are thick in my area. In fact the first morning I was there, one ran across my back yard. Probably will need to come up with some kind of deterrent.

A 30-30 and a big freezer will set you back about the same as good fencing.

Fantastic Dave. Hope you get settled quick. Let us know what you find with the soil.

I've seen wildlife in Joplin, but it was out front of Bowman's Paint Stallion Nightclub Great Gardening in Your new home, Giardiniere

Moving sucks, but we are getting settled in little by little. I did find all my old seed catalogs last night, and got new ones ordered. The yard is pretty shaded, so I think I'm gonna remove some old gnarly looking cedar trees, and put my garden where those are. Should get some good sun in that location. I'm excited to have a space for a garden again, after a hiatus of two years.
I like it so far. I'm paying more in gas to drive back and forth, but the gas is cheaper in Missouri than in Kansas (about .20 per gallon). Groceries are cheaper and property taxes are definitely not as high.
;D There was quite a place. Pretty sure it's closed down now. I'm on the same end of town as the Paint Stallion (south), but really not too close to it.
