Hey I was reading about this one elsewhere and was wondering if anyone has it. Kevin Kevin, did you also post your wants at TV where you saw Tom just do the same and got the seeds rather ASAP? I had responded that I had seeds for both but they're very old, actually I'd been offering both in my free seed offer until last year I think; just can't remember. So if no one here has fresher seeds why don't you also ask at TV in that same thread or ask Tom if he has a few extra when he gets his. He didn't say who he got them from, just said he got them. MY OLD seeds are still a possibility, but I know you can find fresher ones. Carolyn

Kevin, you might try Prue instead of tony's. Flavor is excellent and seeds should be regularly available.

John, actually KEvin got the idea he had to have Sarnowski Polish Plum and Tony's Italian in a thread where Prue was being discussed and comments made by Tom G, who is the originator of Prue. But most of us don't consider Prue to be a paste tomato, including Tom himself and very strongly, too juicy, too many seeds, and that's how Sarnowski and Tony's Italian came up b'c both are pastes. Hey Carolyn and JT, Yep Carolyn kind of figured you would spot this LOL.One reason I did not post in Tville beyond OP commenting about wanting to plant pumpkins in limited space is the darn thread was closed before I got to it I just did not want to make things look redundant. Maybe that was a little silly on my part but I know how all our mater buds on both forums are and at least one would have these on ether site. Kevin

Well, I can't imagine those two varieties can taste better then Prue does. Unfortunately I don't have seed for either of those, but if you need Prue seed, I have plenty.

Well Jt as with most maters a lot of it has to do with climate. As we know well.Had that debate about Early Girl being at the top of my never again list. So maybe the best thing to do is grow all three and see how they do.As you know I am always open to trying new maters.Maybe I will even get past my aversion to eating green maters. ;D

IMO neither of the two varieties do taste better than Prue. The issue in the thread Kevin was reading elsewhere was good tasting paste varieties . And as I said above most folks don 't see Prue as a paste variety. There are darn few varieties I can ID blindfolded just based on taste and Prue is one of them. No way can I describe the taste, b'c it's how I perceive the taste but I love it. There's the possibility that a yellow variant of Prue has appeared as first seen by someone in Australia, or maybe it was N.Z. So Prue's dad, Tom, set up a few folks, including me, and is sending seed from that person as processed from his normal red fruited plants as well as his one yellow plant. All the fruits on the plant were yellow, not just one fruit, or one branch which might indicate a somatic mutation, so it's either a somatic mutation at the level below all fruiting branches, or who knows. The pictures of the yellow fruits shows the same varaibility in size and shape that Prue normally shows. Carolyn

Maybe we can get Tom in on this discussion. I don't think he's registered here yet. My original Prue seed was given to me personally by him. (OMG i'm becoming a name dropper!) Yeah, I wouldn't call Prue a paste either. Doesn't do it any justice as I have not tasted a great paste before. Only Olpaka has come close. I will be growing the F2 of a Prue x Purple Haze cross next season.

I have Carolyn's "old" seeds for Sarnowski Polish Plum (and am pretty confident about it), and didn't take any interest in Tony's Italian, maybe just because I have too many seeds, or because Baker Creek sent me Roma as a freebie.
