Its official. Dan McMurray has chosen P.K.S Heirloom Tomatoes to carry on his work and collection, I am told that the first of the 550 varieties have been mailed!! We are excited to get such a valuable collection from one of the tomato greats. As always great care will be taken to ensure the viability of seeds. I am very grateful to have such an honor from two of this crafts finest tomatomen. As alot of you know and for those that don't, P.K.S has also been chosen to be the US distributors of the Kozula collection. This can be very interesting for those that are crossing or have breeding projects going. Thanks to Gunnar, the tomato world is a little closer together. I would like to take this time also to ask Dan to share his storage methods. Some of you may find this very interesting and I am sure it will go a long way to preserving large collections. All I can say is BOY AM I GONNA HAVE A BUSY SUMMER!!! I also have some of the greatest crosses from the best breeders on the planet!! PAP, Keith, Frogs, Brad, Randy Gardner, Spud and the list goes on. I have alot of help now though. and we also have a P.K.S.South thanks to Blane Horton!! I have had to buy at least 8 more books for storage, and a case of dessicant!!
Well, I better get going for now, I have gardens to plan!! And Master Spud is getting impatient!!

Good deal Dean. I feel fortunate to know such great tomato greats. I do have a few of Dans varieties. One of which made it through the rabbit attacks. Can't wait to see how everything turns out.

Very exciting. It'll be interesting to hear how you are going to keep everything organized. That'll be one tough challenge, but it sounds like you've got some good help! Should be a fun season in 2011!

Darth, you and I are friends. But seriously, I'd rather see my nickname at the other end of that string of venerable persons as I am the least of the list with regard to breeding tomatoes. Seriously, I'm just starting, and following advice given by a few of those much more adept and accomplished guys.
But I'm not trying to lessen the trust and honor bestowed upon you by Grunt, Spuds, Frogs, Brad, Gunnar and others who have chosen PKS to increase and preserve their legacy tomato lines. Just sayin' ...

Dean, congratulations on the addition of Dan's (Grunt's) collection. You definitely have shouldered a great responsibility assuming both Spuds and Dans collections which means they have every reason to believe you will carry on their work. A great compliment to you which is well deserved and you must be doing something right. Ami PS; Now we have to do something about your avatar to make it more tomatoey if thats a word. ;D
