www.durgan.org/URL/?ETXPV Knee Pads that don't slip down the leg. Knee pads are indispensable in the garden. For years the pads sold were almost useless, since they always slipped down the leg in use. This type depicted does not slip, due to the accordion type flex at the top. These are readily available in most box hardware stores in the tools section.

It's easy to find wide elastic bands and rolls of velcro. I've had the same knee pads now for 6 years and I replace the bands every other year which works out just fine. All you need is a rudimentary sewing ability. I've tried those solid plastic types and they're quite uncomfortable. The ones I have are fairly heavy duty but instead of the round solid plastic cover, they have a grooved surface like the bottom of a boot and a gel cushion to them. With so many different types out there, it comes down to an individual's comfort level.

Now when I go into the garden I automatically put the knee pads in place. They don't slip, and keep the knees of the pants clean, and one tends to get down more often. It sure beats bending over and trying to get close to the action, particularly if one had a large gut. I also use them when going to a Pick-Your-Own strawberry field. They sure make this job more comfortable.
