Hello, I have been amateur breeding watermelon for 4 years and melon for 3 years and decided to get into tomato and a little pepper. My friend has a greenhouse and supplies the locally grown market in tomato and pepper. He has let me rent some bags from him and I have some bags at home as well. I have attached some pictures of his largest house and my bags. Take it easy, Jonny Attachments:

Just for background, you are growing some regular size and some dwarf varieties. Could you post something about the varieties and what you hope to achieve?

Yes, of course. I would also like to thank Darrel for supplying me with some seed on some heat tolerant and dwarf/determinate lines. He was also kind enough to give me his number and talk me through some things and give me some ideas. All around great guy! I am working towards dwarf plants for a container/pot growing I have to do at my house. My watermelons and melons take up most all of my room in spring. I hadn't planned on working on indeterminate types, but that has changed. I have a friend that works with some growers in Mexico (just about 20 miles from my house) and they are having some difficulties with specialty types (striped, oranges, etc). I am helping him with these now on the side. Below is what went in the bags today. Black From Tula Taps Pink Heidi New Bid Dwarf Big Beef x Eva Purple Ball (darjones cross) Unknown Dwarf Early Wonder Sun Sugar F1 Sun Gold F1 Tomande F1 Rambling Red Stripe F1 Lemon Boy F1 Dr. Carolyn Kellogg's Breakfast Dwese Streaked Mortgage Lifter Ester's Strain Bolseno F1 Mountain Magic F1 Black Pear Big Zebra Black Zebra Red Target F1 Brandy Boy F1 Super Sweet 100 VF F1 Merced F1 Jubilee Money Maker Celebrity F1 Green Zebra I have many F1 because I don't have room for F1 crosses from o.p. lines. After I can get to F3 familes, I will probably cross in some stuff. I also have a lot to learn about how tomato genetics work (so to speak) and how crosses will work out. I hope to learn most of that in my F2 generation in the fall. I will keep this post going with some pictures and progress as I go along. I am off to Chile now, I will update when I get home.
Thanks Jonny

I work with the breeder of that one and he happened to have a little bit of seed left and gave me some. I have a few left. On another note, I was in Chile last week and temps in Yuma got down to 19. I talked with my buddy this morning and he said there is some frost damage to my plants. I haven't been in town yet to see them, hopefully when I return it isn't too bad and I can still salvage something from this deal. I will post an update when I get home. Jonny

Jonny,
There seems to be a shortage of Big Beef seed in the commercial pipeline. Several vendors are out and don't expect seed in for another 2 months. Any idea what is going on?

The connection at this hotel is terrible. I don't know for sure but I think there is just q seed shortage, but I can't know for sure. I will call around when I can and talk with some people and see if they can tell me more. Jonny
