Hello My name is bob and I'm from Elgin, Il. I found this site through tville, where I have been a member for about 3 months and I am learning alot about tomatoes that I never new.
Last fall I grew a couple that were heirloom and I did the seed saving thing for the first time. The tomato was choc cherry which I really liked. I have about 60 varieties from all the kind seed sharers at tville. Now I just have to figure which ones to grow and how to grow them. I just checked out "100 Heirloom Tomatoes for the American Garden", Carolyn J Male. This should help me get started with my 2011 tomato selection.
Right now I just reading some of the stuff on this site and will probably learn a lot more. I have a garden that was an old pig pen and I probably have about a1/4 of an acre garden. I have grown akot of myrai corn for the last two years and was very happy with the results. I saved seed from my corn and plan to plant it this year along with some heirloom tomatoes, beans ,basil, onions, and cukes.
We sure do have alot of snow right now. On wed. over 20 inches of snow dropped in on us and we are still getting back to normal. Any way I look forward to hearing from you with good sound advice.
Thanks.
Bob

Hello and welcome. You'll soon be addicted as badly as the rest of us. You seem to have a good start, but there are about 5000 more varieties to gather. ;D Tom

Welcome Bob. This site can't compete with TVille or IDig in number of members, but there's a lot of good information.
