Greetings. So nice to be educated by great gardeners. I love to experiment with different varieties, different vegetables. A bit dry here for most of the growing season except for tornado and hail season in June.
Tomatoes have always been in the family - always red - so it's nice to find and taste the great pink/purple/black varieties that are, oooh so great.
Best of luck to everyone in their gardening endeavors.

Welcome Catherine!
My wife is from Colorado. I know that some places in Colorado are easier than others (ie: The Plains vs. the mountians). Are you on the Western Slope or the Front Range?

I live on the Front Range though I have also lived in Southeastern Colorado where it gets hot quickly and stays dry, near Rocky Ford - where they grow the sweetest melons to die for.
We wait all season for those melons, then in summer comes the Olathe corn, and around September we drive to Palisade for their yummy peaches. North of us is a berry picking farm so we're busy all summer either in the kitchen or in the garden.

Blane - you can have your tornadoes - we lucked out 2 years ago with the storm wiping out lots of roofs, fences, and gardens only about 5 miles from our house. Lots of friends got new roofs but lost their gardens.
