I really wanted this one and thanks to Lee {Tomato Pallooza Fame} I now have it!! And a couple other beauties that will appear soon enough. This is one of my babies Striped Sweetheart, The ugly stepsister to Lucky Cross and Little Lucky and Little Lucky Heart. Well, perhaps not ugly after all, why this one isn't more popular is beyond me.

Captain Lucky, aka Green Magic, is described by the person who sent me seeds as a "tricolor" green when ripe offshoot of Lucky Cross. I think she means the fruit will look similar to Ananas Noir or WildThyme GWR with the red streaks deep in the green flesh, and yellow-green highlights and streaking through the red just under the skin. The plants I have are strong potato leaf seedlings.

It's one of many sports from Lucky Cross. It's either Red skinned with green flesh or Green skinned with red flesh, I can't damned remember. I'll try to find the thread that I saw a pic of and post it.

This is from a person in NC.
I selected this variety from a cross of Lucky Cross and an unknown variety. I originally named it Green Magic because it appeared in a grow out of my variety Black Magic, which is from the same cross. Before I listed this variety in SSE I changed the name to Captain Lucky. I sent seeds of this variety to Susan Anderson as Green Magic, and later informed her of the name change. Susan has also listed this variety in the 2011 SSE catalog. I only have a limited number of packets left which I will save for SSE orders, but I can send anyone seeds from this year's crop, which will probably be in August. The variety is an F6 this year so it might not be totally stable. Captain Lucky was one of my best tasting varieties in 2010. The three colors are Green, Yellow, and Pink. Captain Lucky has a sister variety which I named First Mate. It's also a tricolor, but RL (Captain Lucky is PL) and from the outside looks like a green tomato with a pink blush, but on the inside looks just like Captain Lucky. The above post I scooped off of Tville, Hope the world doesn't ban me for this. But I see the pics didn't shine thru.
Paps description is correct, it is a multicolor similar to Ananas Noire, And my plants are also very healthy looking PLs.

The best pictures of Captain Lucky are posted by Suze on Page One in a thread entitled Green When Ripe, started on December 21, 2010, by Fred Hempel at Tomatoville.

Who posted that bammer? So this is yet another unstable variety distributed to everyone? This variety originated with Winterfly, one of the boards members. He has an image of First Mate as his avatar. From the seed packets he gave me at Tomatoapalooza[tm] last year, these should be in the F7~F8 generation now, so I would expect them to be fairly stable. Thanks for the background info, Lee. I know at least the leaf shape is stable. All the seeds Suze sent me sprouted identical. And I hope the color and flavor she describes is stable plant to plant. Beautiful tomato!
