I have some corn from a trade marked "2006", is this still viable or would you even try growing it?

Yeah, Radix told me once that corn should be good for about 5 years, if I recall correctly.

If the seed has been kept cool and dry (any non-tropical seed), the chances are good that it will last much longer than usual. I've germinated corn seed that was at least seven years in storage, and the germ rate was pretty high.

Sweeter the corn, quicker it loses it's punch. Feed and flint corns can be 10 years old if stored right. Wrinkly sweet corn hybrid, plant right away.
