Tomatoes: Belgian Giant Rutgers Pink Brandywine Caspian Pink Ponderosa Pink Ox heart (red, I think?) Cherokee Purple
Peppers: Cubanelle Pimento Paprika Joe E Parker Numex Big Jim
Brussels sprouts Long Island Improved
Tobacco: Havanna Virginia Red Leaf Burley (heavy leaf) Burley (tall) Burley (light) Dark Virginia Virginia Gold (dark strain) Wisconsin Seed Leaf Golden Seal Special Burley
I did not grow any of these seeds, I bought some and got a lot too many and some I traded for.
I grow a complete garden, including herbs, flowers, grains, and all things edible or pretty. What you have extra of… just might be what I don’t have.

Hey, this will be easy, I think the only tomatoes that we both have is Old German. Maybe Hillbilly, I know that I have Hillbilly. So, pick the tomato that you have the most of... ha ha... I am not hard to get along with. I have alot of the same flowers. And out of room for more flowers, or I would think about that too...

Hey, sure I love to swap. I have most of these on hand from this planting, and they will germinate. But, I do have most of these growing and will have fresh seeds of these this fall also. Sure, let's plan some swapping. I also have alot more varieties of tobacco, tomatoes and peppers growing, that with a bit of luck will increase my seeds.... and I can swap more, more, more. Swapping is fun!

The tobacco seed you sent did really good, especially the Havana! I also purchased some Rustica and enjoyed growing that...and sharing it with other greenthumbed fun-attics. Thank you again for sharing!!!!
Your friend in the dirt,

Great! I grew Rustica last year. I still haven't gotten brave enough to sample it. The regular tobaccos were strong enough, I am still waiting for them to mellow. So, I focussed more on Burleys and Turkish to try to have less nicotine! And I smoke full flavor! Be careful with that Rustica, just try a tiny little bit, or use a bit in with the others, even Havanna will get to ya! Nicotiana Sylvestris seems to be the only truly mild tobacco. Sure makes you wonder how much of the commercial "tobacco" is even tobacco, huh?

Ciao ozarklady- The Brussels Sprouts you sent are doing very well. I have them in 2 places and they're starting to form stalks in the middle above ground level. This is my first year trying to grow this visually odd plant, so I'm not sure what to expect.

Penny, have you never grown them either? Little tiny cabbages begin to form on the stalk...They get bigger as fall approaches. Then a light frost comes on and kisses them all over making them sweet to eat. I love brussel sprouts. Think of the difference between a cardboard winter tomato and one straight from your garden, only think green....There is no equal.

This is my first year trying to grow this visually odd plant, so I'm not sure what to expect. This is also my first time growing Brussels Sprouts. I started a purple variety called Rubine and have two growing and am eager to see what they do. Also started Kolibri Kohlrabi to see what it'll do. Planted five and they'll have a purple bulb.

Ooo, Strat, Kohlrabi is yummy, like cabbage with attitude. Great cut in strips and served raw with dip; stirfried or cut into strips and breaded and deepfried. One of the worlds most underrated but entertaining veggies. In fact, the type of thing we'd expect to see in those pics of the fields at Darth's place

I have never seen kohlrabi other than in pictures either. I wouldn't know what to do to eat one. I love brussels and I always order some, and I grow nice plants, but rarely if ever get a single brussel. I do keep them alive and they go to seed. The ones here were some that I had ordered and really got alot too many of. Pak Choi is now setting seeds, and I didn't get a bite of those either. But it sure is setting alot of seeds. However, Harlequin bugs are hitting that bed heavily, I hope the seed don't get ate! I keep spraying and nothing is killing the things!

Ciao all-
I had a choice to make with the brassicas..let them make seeds or harvest and pull after bolt and use the flowers, then plant bush beans. I made the latter choice. I still have a lot of seeds and I'll tell you, each of those tiny little seeds makes a huge plant that gives and gives. You don't need a lot of seed to get a forest.
Stratcat, you really do think like me when it comes to growing vegetables that are non-traditional colours. I didn't get seed for the purple brussels sprout but I'd love to grow it. Maybe in the fall we can do a trade.
Penny, right now the plants have large outer leaves but in the middle, it looks like a very small cabbage that's thinking about bolting. The centre is starting to grow upwards and that stalk is where the little cabbage-looking sprouts will form. I'm thinking it's going to turn into some kind of CN Tower with little cabbages stuck to it, lol.
