I know it isn't Sunday, but I had to post this early after tasting it. What a great tomato!! Nice shape, color and disease resistance. But what really got me was the taste, again, I am not a huge Brandywine Freak...However I would say that this is the better of the 2. It is relatively early also. I am aware that BW was a parent, but this is a far better tomato than average, I tasted it along side Cowlicks, which is a pretty good, above average BW. And Liz edged it right out of picture. Taste tests are great and listing results are not a BAD idea, but......remember...Taste is a lot of geography and soil, weather conditions. I will say it again..just for certain people who need a refresher..what taste good in Pa...may taste like poop here!! To actually have a fair representation of a legit taste test, you need at least, and I say that grudgingly,4 people from each state North, east, south, and west...and even then you have to figure in micro climates. soil conditions, ones own preference for sweet to acid..etc Not knocking anyone who would cut the vast list of thousands of species..but do keep this in mind. Get other opinions from other growers about that particular species. My reason for stating this is, that most people get hung up on one species and have a problem trying new things, it becomes a pattern. Try Liz Birt, you wont be sorry!!

A-n-d it most often takes more than one grow out. I think I went through five or six trials of Brandywine before getting one that worked for me.

Is Liz Birt a red tomato (yellow epidermis)? I thought it would be pink (clear epidermis) considering its parentage.

The Liz Birt I grew was darker. It did very well in Miami. The foliage was very sparse but the plant was healthy. Attachments:
