This season, I had two tomato plants die a horrible death to Fusarium. While I didn't have lab confirmation of the diagnosis, the symptoms were pretty classic.
So, considering these plants were in pots, I figured I had some pretty good dirt to do an isolation test for fusarium tolerance. After removing the other dead plants, I transplanted some new seedlings in each pot.
So far, they've grown quite well and have been flowering nicely. No signs of any Fusarium showing up yet.....
My question is this, Is this a good procedure to verify if a variety has any tolerance to fusarium? What do the "official" guys do to be able to slap the big F label on their tomato varieties?
Thanks in advance for any feedback,
Lee
