wow, you're like a half century! Ha, yeah, that's true. It doesn't bother me at all. I have quite a few friends and relatives who have passed on already so I'm really happy that I'm still around and fairly healthy and growing.

I am very thankful.
I had many friends and relatives who died before their 50th birthdays from a variety of causes including traffic accidents, drug addiction, cancer, heart attacks, undiscovered genetic defects and even as a spectator at a race track. My family and I are all relatively healthy.
I know more people who lost their jobs in the past 2 years than kept their jobs. I know people who have been unemployed for over 2 years. Yet, I have been spared (so far) and still have a really good job. We were able to pay for my stepdaughter’s wedding and have continued to save for retirement and my son’s college, although it has become quite a bit harder and more worrisome.
1/3 of the homes in our neighborhood were foreclosed since fall, 2008. 1/3. Many of our best, most solid neighbors are gone. We are still here.
People are asking me how I feel about turning 50 today. And I reply that it is f-ing wonderful…..and I am very grateful….

That's a lot to be overcome and be thankful for. Keep on keeping on.
