Yeah, I wouldn't wanna be the so-called mechanic who checked all that out and gave it a good bill of health 'fore they left Copemish.

Here in N.Ala we're getting the tail end of that storm, just some flurries.

I (we) moved from Denmark to Poland three years ago, on the 6 December 2007. But there was no winter weather then in either country, and we went comfortably by plane, while the stuff came in a lorry (truck).

Most of you folks know far more than I do about this trip so please share with me.
What are they driving? Pick up trip hauling a trailer or a semi- type vehicle?
What goes on the trailer or semi for the return trip? I thought someone referred to a Mitsubishi so is that Bill's car and if so that goes on the trailer?
Last I knew, which was years ago, Bill was living in a mobile home. Did he sell that and if so are the furnishings also coming back with him to MI? And if so where will they be placed?
Where will Bill be on the return trip? Is there room for three in the cab?
Justy trying to figure things out.

They are driving an "RV" (recreational vehicle) like a Winnebago type thing, with a tow bar hook-up to tow Bill's Mitsu back to MI. For those who don't know what an RV is, it's a big box on wheels complete with minimal kitchen, bathroom (loo), and sleeping platforms. The one they are driving burns diesel fuel.

Update: They're on I-69 about ready to cross Indiana line and finally out of Michigan! Damn!
Anyway, bad snow and ice. Already seen 34 vehicles off roadway. Just passed a wreck with semi-trucks and 4 cars. Sporatic windshield wiper problems. Heater intermittent.
New routing: Since they didn't get ahead of the storm, and have to drive thru it anyway, they're gonna stay on I-69 to Indy, get on I-70 west to Terre Haute, then to Effingham, Illinois, get on I-57 south through Cairo, Sikeston (MO), to West Memphis (AR), get on I-40 west through Arkansas, Texas to New Mexico ... barring any more unforeseen events of weather or mechanics!

Good luck guys, wishing you all the best on your road trip. Hard to imagine how that weather can be driven through. That sort of snow causes havoc whenever it occurs here in the UK, we are not used to it and our pathetic infrastructure is not prepared for real winter weather.
Thanks also to pv for keeping us updated.

Okay, they're parked for the night in N.E. Indiana on I-69 across the highway from a propane service center where they will get their tanks filled in the morning and travel on south. The propane runs the heaters and defrosters (to keep them warm and de-ice their windshields), so they're bunking in for the evening to get some rest.

I even know one that's being used permanently b'c she kicked him out of their home. ;D Murderous on gas they all say. Carolyn

Yes but Carolyn, having an RV means you don't have to pay for a motel/hotel room every night on the road. And they can cook their own meals instead of having to eat in restaurants as well. Kinda evens itself out I suppose.

Blane, what's wrong with the Arch? I know people who don't like the traffic in St. Louis. But I love the old buildings and some day, I'm going to actually stop in St. Louis and find me some deep fried Ravioli. If the boys are going through KY, tell them to stop at the Paducah welcome centre...They have the friendliest ladies at the tourism counter. I went to the little girls room and came back out to my husband being fussed over by a half dozen women and him grinning from ear to ear. I would never have guessed he had such an interest in quilting or crafts And Cairo is kind of an interesting looking place. It has some lovely old buildings as well. Too bad it's only a shadow of what it must have been when shipping down the river was big business. Hope today's delays are past them and that the rest of the trip is better.

Nothing is wrong with the Arch or visiting the hillbilly state...(KY)....he-heh.. We was trying to help them get out west with the fastest possible plan. And going thru St.Louis verses Memphis, like Pap said....way faster to drop down 55, then go 40 west.
